Dr Jossie Higuerey DVM was born in NYC and loved animals since she was little. Initially, she pursued a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology, which led to her certification as a Certified Veterinary Technician. After a couple of years, finishing pre-requisite courses for applying to Vet school, it took a couple more years to get into Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in the Caribbean. After living in the Caribbean, she didn't want to go back to the cold and found a job in Florida in 2011. She loves all animals but has a special place in her heart for Chihuahuas. At one point, she had four Chihuahuas but is down to one now. She also keeps a variety of exotic pets and aquariums. She also enjoys crochet, hiking, reading books, and trail running, among other hobbies. Renaissance Faires are a guilty pleasure, and a great non-summer weekend activity. Dr Jossie enjoys many of the disciplines of Veterinary Medicine, but also the Human-Animal Bond, low stress/fear free handling are important to how she treats her patients, with compassion and care. She believes in using anxiety-reducing medications when needed, so that she can help her patients more effectively and safely.
